Art or art as therapy has been a concept to me since I was very little. One very special day I discovered what Art Therapy actually was and since then have been truly inspired by the creative process and it’s healing powers. Art Therapy uses creativity, materials, and exploration to inevitably discover self-truths and identify feelings when words aren’t enough. The American Art Therapy Association describes the process of Art Therapy as: Art therapy is a mental health profession that uses the creative process of art making to improve and enhance the physical, mental and emotional well-being of individuals of all ages. It is based on the belief that the creative process involved in artistic self-expression helps people to resolve conflicts and problems, develop interpersonal skills, manage behavior, reduce stress, increase self-esteem and self-awareness, and achieve insight.

I received my Master’s in Art Therapy and Creative Development from The Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York in 2006. I also have my Child Life Certification, completed in 2008. I have a unique blend of experience, including: behavioral (day treatment/inpatient), women’s shelters, pediatric clinic and inpatient medical services - including palliative care. I am from the Twin Cities and passionate about Art Therapy and the Creative Arts in Minnesota

My private practice location is in Minneapolis, MN 711 W. Lake Street in the Calhoun Arts Building www.calhounbuilding.com.

I will work with adults, adolescents and children.
