The American Art Therapy Association’s 46th Annual Conference is over and art therapists across the world are settling back into their routines. Settling back in with more knowledge, education and inspiration from a number of papers, panels, focus groups, workshops, courses, speeches and conversations. This was a time to learn from names and faces, some of whom we have only read about and seen in movies, from the likes of Temple Grandin, Judy Rubin, Lisa Hinz, Laura Chapman, Bruce and Cathy Moon, Gussie Klorer and many more. Not only was it a time for learning but for music, dancing and just plain fun! Drummer Shawnee Hunt and DJ Glo facilitated inspiring beats to energize our soul. Not to mention the visual pleasure of the larger-than-life puppets honoring the pioneers that hold the foundation for art therapy, making their initial appearance at the Opening Plenary and making a second appearance on the dance floor at the Closing Event. As we all know very well, words only tell part of the story, so please check out the amazing photographs below, taken by MNATA vice-president Heather Matson. Thanks to our fearless leader, Craig Balfany, and to all of the wonderful members of the local arrangements committee. Here’s to a job well done!
